Because today is my 2nd wedding anniversary, I am reflecting on how lucky I am to have had my own mother present on my wedding day, since she is now a 6 year breast cancer survivor – her story could have easily gone the other way. And even now, we wait to see if her breast cancer returns, the way it did for her own mother. I also was lucky to have my father walk me down the aisle, even though in those same days, he was quietly suffering from early symptoms of his own cancer battle, which he lost a few months ago.
I wanted to share a special page, Brides Attack Breast Cancer I created in honor of brides to be who are not only committing their lives to someone special, but are likely committing aspects of their wedding to the cause, because of someone else special to them, and I’m hoping they were able to share that special day with these loved ones.
