As you can see on the right side of the page, I actively use twitter, or tweet, to let my followers know about popular breast cancer awareness merchanise, fundraisers, celebrity cancer charities and news related to breast cancer research.
During October 2009 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you too can use the service to spread the word about fundraising efforts and raise awareness at the same time. Here’s how:
- Sign up for Twitter if you don’t already have an account. Follow my tweets @pink_bracelets to get the latest news and find out when I’ve made a new blog post at Breast Cancer Bracelets. Retweet (or share) my updates by posting “RT @pink_bracelets” in your own “What are you doing” box, followed by a copy of my update which you liked & wanted to share with others. (Tip: you can download and use a service like TweetDeck, Twirl, Tweetie, HootSuite to make re-tweeting and sharing easier)
-
If you already have a Twitter account, add a #Twibbon to your avatar to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Click on the pink ribbon support box below to sign up with your twitter account and join the # of supporters:
- Add the hashtag #tweetsforboobs in a tweet throughout the month of October and every tweet from you will be counted as a $1 pledge by you agree to make at the end of the month in a lump donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Corporate sponsors are welcome to match any donations! More info here.

Just want to clarify, that the #tweetforboobs hashtag counts as a pledge from you.. and at the end of the month, we ask you to make a donation in the amount of your total pledge. We are working on corporate sponsors that may “match” your donation.. but none have materialized as of yet.
thx strebel for clarifying the donation rules. made an update to the post and hope you raise a boatload of money for Susan G Komen!
